During the past year we have strived to strengthen our relationships with our employer organisation the South African Local Government Association (SALGA). Deliberations on formal recognition by the employer organisation started a good four or five year’s ago. We worked together with SALGA tirelessly, on various projects and initiatives, but it’s only during the course of this year that significant strides were made towards entering into a formal memorandum of understanding. If I am not mistaken, Programme Director, this memo is due to be officially signed during the course of this conference.
